Project overview:

Responsible Lending is a equity release lending company partially owned by Royal London. Thus, the project involved the redesign and rebranding of the website to modernize its appearance, improve user experience, and leverage its partial ownership by Royal London. The goal was to create a cohesive and professional online presence that reflects the integrity and reliability of both Responsible Lending Ltd UK and Royal London.

Working within the existing technical framework of Responsible Lending posed constraints, particularly in integrating new features and ensuring compatibility. Moreover, aligning the visions and expectations of multiple stakeholders from both Responsible Lending and Royal London was difficult, especially with differing priorities and feedback.

Thus, I had to collaborate closely with the development team to understand the technical limitations and possibilities. I made informed design decisions that aligned with the technical capabilities while pushing for necessary upgrades to support new functionalities. I facilitated regular communication and feedback loops through meetings and updates with the stakeholders.

  • Analyzed competitors to identify industry standards and opportunities for differentiation.
  • Looked at brand integration to incorporate elements of Royal London’s branding to signify the relationship and strengthen brand equity.
  • Updated the aesthetic to a clean, modern look that appeals to current and prospective clients to modernise the website design.
  • Created wireframes to outline the structure and layout of key pages
  • Utilized imagery and icons that resonate with the target demographic.
  • Collaborated closely with the development team in order to deliver a high quality product that aligns with the requests and Figma designs.
  • Conducted thorough testing to ensure the site is responsive, fast, and free of bugs.
  • Improved User Experience: The integration of Royal London’s branding elements was well-received, with the company reporting a more professional and trustworthy image.
  • Load Times: The website’s load times improved by 20-25%, leading to a smoother and faster user experience. This was achieved through optimized coding practices and effective use of caching and compression techniques.
  • Mobile Performance: Mobile user sessions increased, with users reporting a seamless experience across different devices, thanks to the responsive design approach.
  • Discovery: After verifying Google Analytics statistics couple months after launch, we discovered that just over 62% of our users prefer to join the website from mobile, instead of tablet or desktop.
  • Feedback: The website received great feedback from the adviser network, but also from the stakeholders.
